The Role of Ethical Claims Management Companies

The recent IFB article addressing misleading claims adverts on Google raises valid concerns but risks unfairly grouping ethical businesses like Accident Claim Helpline (ACHL), with unscrupulous firms. ACHL is a trading name of Exclusive Law Solicitors who are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). ACHL is a trademark registered with both the SRA and the Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

We operate fully within the law and comply with Google’s strict advertising policies. While our advertising strategies may not align with insurers’ preferences, they are entirely legal and subject to rigorous compliance standards. We actively support the fight against insurance fraud and believe that clients have the right to choose who represents them in their motor claims. This freedom of choice is something we will continue to defend.

ACHL are a regulated business, giving clients confidence and peace of mind. In contrast, many unethical claims management firms operate unregulated, creating a clear distinction between reputable providers and those acting dishonestly.

We work with some of the largest law firms in the UK, as well as managing general agents (MGA’s) who have underwriting authority from insurance companies.

We work ethically within this marketspace.

Compliance and Transparency

ACHL operates legally, adhering to strict regulations and Google’s compliance protocols. ACHL never mislead clients, never claim to be insurers, and clearly outline our role as an alternative claims route. ACHL’s ethical approach is backed by a 4.6 Trustpilot score and 9.0 CSAT score, reflecting client satisfaction and trust.

Client-Centric Services

ACHL’s services offer tangible benefits, such as:

  • No-claims discount protection (where applicable) by coordinating repairs via the third party’s insurance policy.
  • BSI10125 repair centres or manufacturer approved repair centres
  • Only using genuine parts directly from the manufacturer on all repairs for our clients and Spies hecker paint from the leading paint manufacturer Axalta.
  • Lifetime-in-ownership repair warranties for vehicles post repair.
  • A comparable vehicle provided during the repair process.
  • A quick and efficient service
Challenging the Insurer Narrative

The IFB article promotes insurers as the safest option, yet insurers themselves have faced criticism. In March 2024, the FCA published findings from its multi-firm review into motor total-loss claim settlements, revealing that some insurers were undervaluing written-off or stolen vehicles. The review found evidence that some insurers offered customers less than the market value of their vehicles and only increased their offers upon receiving customer complaints. The FCA has engaged with these insurers to ensure improvements and issued warnings to the industry to prevent such practices. Rising premiums unfairly burden innocent drivers, often leaving them to shoulder higher costs even when they are not at fault for an accident.

Clients have a right to decide who manages their claims. Many prefer to recover losses from at-fault insurers, avoiding penalties to their own insurance policies. ACHL ensures this process is seamless, transparent, and cost-effective.

Understanding Credit Hire and Credit Repair Agreements

We understand that entering into credit hire or credit repair agreements can feel daunting, as these agreements are technically in the client’s name. However, we want to provide absolute clarity and reassurance regarding this process and how we and our partners work to protect our client’s interests.

Credit hire and credit repair agreements are designed to assist clients in getting back on the road and repairing their vehicles quickly after an accident, without any upfront financial burden. These agreements ensure that clients are not left out of pocket while their claims are resolved. Although the agreement is in the client’s name, it’s important to emphasise that the financial liability for these costs is not expected to fall on the client as our appointed partners act on the client’s behalf to recover all costs directly from the at-fault party’s insurer. This includes the hire and repair costs.

We understand the concerns some clients may have when entering into these agreements, but we want to emphasise that these agreements are designed to support clients and hold the at-fault party accountable – not to impose financial risk on the client.

Final Thoughts

It’s vital to distinguish between unscrupulous firms and regulated, ethical businesses like Accident Claim Helpline. We act in clients’ best interests, offering superior service and peace of mind.

The claim that insurers are inherently more trustworthy overlooks their history of customer-unfriendly practices. Clients deserve the choice to work with professionals who prioritise their needs—something we’re proud to deliver.

Our ultimate aim is to protect our clients’ rights and ensure they are not unfairly penalised for an incident caused by someone else.
